We'll its been a long time since i've poste on our family blog. I'm trying to get it updated and ready for 2011.

Everyone is doing well,.. and everyone got what they had on their Christmas list: Kaitlynn wanted two corn snakes, Ashlee wanted new Wii games, and Kaylee wanted the components to build her own "custom built" skateboard... Here are some pictures of the girls...

Kaitlynn will be graduating this June and then completing her associates degree. She still has about one more year left to complete that. Kaylee is in 4th grade and seems to be enjoying it. She is very much the tom boy and pretty upset Kaitlynn got snakes and she didn't. Ashlee is doing well and maintaining her health. She is Ashlee... She has her good days, as we all do...

I just finished my month end for the 10th and now the next two weeks I am going crazy working on year end and having a CPA company come in and audit 2010's books.... Its a little nerve racking trying to get everything ready for them...

The past few weeks have been a bit stressed at our house. Bill decided to go to Hazmat School and before the actual school started, they had to take and pass a two week hazmat chemistry class. WOW! Never seen Bill as stressed as he had been. Glad the chemistry portion of the class is done and he passed!!! Yea honey!!! Now he has 4 weeks of just schooling and actual practice etc.... He is still pretty tired, but not as stressed. Here is proof of his passing his Hazmat Chemistry Portion:

The past two months have been hard on Kaitlynn (and the family). Beginning in February, the doctors said Kaitlynn's mono had gone "active" and she was exhausted. All she wanted to do was sleep. What teenager doesn't want that right? Just kidding. We'll it got really bad and to the point we had to withdraw her from her night class at college and then she really struggled with getting through this term.... She finally made it through and we are waiting for her final grades.... During this time, she also came down with a sinus infection and cough which took two trips to the doctors and two rounds of different antibitics and lots of rest to try to get her better. She is still not 100% complete..... but getting there. She has another doctors appt on Monday with a new doctor for a complete physical checkup......

My friend, neighbor, and girl scout co-leader Kristi, decided to take all of our girls and her two nieces to go see Disney on Ice. Neither one of us had ever been to one and we thought the girls would enjoy it. The weather itself could have been better, it was very cold, windy, and rainy on the way there. When the show was done, it was snowing!! Come on weather - cooperate!! Not fun weather when Ashley is in a wheel chair. It takes coordination to be able to push the wheel chair with her and hold an umbrella so we don't melt. :)

Overall the experience was fun and definitely something to go see once in a lifetime, but I think all of our kids are too old for it. Kaylee actually fell asleep during it. What a kid.... She is so above that now at age 9. :)

English Quest 2010

On a brighter note, Kaitlynn participated in The 2010 Utah English Quest which is a statewide competition for secondary level students, grades 9-12. This festival, encourages and rewards Utah students' excellence in reading, writing, speaking, presenting, filming, drawing, and acting. The contests showcase students' expression and expertise in their use of language and communication. Participants will receive awards for outstanding performances in nineteen categories related to language arts and receive medals and awards for outstanding performances.

She won 2nd place in the Persuasive Written Paper... Way to Go Kaitlynn!!!!

The competition was held at Weber State University in Ogden on Friday, March 5, 2010.

I will post a copy of her award as soon as she brings it to me.... Its buried in her car somewhere.... :(

Kaitlynn's 11th Grade Sweethearts Dance

This year, Kaitlynn decided to go to the Sweethearts Dance and it was Girls Choice. The teenagers nowadays don't do anything simple, like Hey, would you want to go to the Dance with me? No, they have to decorate the guy's car with a question and then wait for the dude to do something back to get an answer. I guess I would be too impatient, as I know Kaitlynn was. Every time I would ask, well.... she would get mad and say "he hasn't answered me yet!". Ugh... the life of a teenager.... Needles to say, like two days before the dance, he finally answered her with a bracelet he made for her. She looks really cute in a dress that I found for her at Christmas time for only $5.99.... typically a $70.00 dress.... Budget shopper here I come... Nah, just found a good deal :). The girls spent Halloween with us this year. Kaylee wanted to be a Cow Girl, so I found a cow girl outfit, but it was pink. So she complained of the color and the fact she was wearing a skirt. She is quite our litle Tomboy. Ashlee wanted to be a kitty cat, so that is what she went as.
They both had a good time. Neither one of them understood why we had to go through their candy bags and make sure all the candy was good to eat.:) Bill was looking for all the bad almond joys and I was looking for all the bad banana taffy.

Adult Halloween Party

Bill's favorite Holiday of the year is Halloween. He loves to decorate the house and the yard. Go for it honey. This year he and his friend Ben, decided to throw a Halloween Costume Party.
Bill had picked out his costume a month or two ago, and he was going to be a Pimp. Then he decided he wanted to be the Hoe and have me be his pimp. I made some modifications to his pimp costume and tried to make it a female pimp. I felt more like Daphne from Scooby Doo with my glasses then a pimp and Bill turned out to be quite disturbing. It was hilarious to watch him try to do his eye liner. He's like "how the hell do you guys do this everyday?". It was quite funny. Bill also has a sinus infection, so his head was full and he was talking through his nose, so all that combined gave him quite a costume. The girls both laughed hysterically.

We did a joint Birthday Party at Classic Skating Rink, Oct. 24th. We invited the girls friends and they all had a blast. Their was skating, rock climbing, bouncy section, and bowling. Ashlee turned 13 years old and is now an official teenager and Kaylee turned 9 years old on the 11th. See the pictures below to see all the fun they had......

Bill of Rights Institute

This summer, Kaitlynn received a scholarship to the Bill or Rights Institute. She went to Arlington, Virginia and spent a week there staying at the Marymount University. She earned 3 college credits for this week, plus the month prior she had to read and prepare for weekly online classes and then when she got back, she had to do a 10 page paper. We are so proud of her and all her accomplishments.... Way to go Kaitlynn!!!

Here are some pictures of Seattle. They did offer tours for Safeco Field but only at 2pm and we were still eating lunch at Joe's Crab Shack. We'll have to plan this for the next trip.

Joe's Crab Shack

On Wednesday, we went to Seattle. Dad and Mom treated us to Joe's Crab Shack on the wharf. Wow, what a treat for Bill... They bring out these huge steel bowls full of crab legs, mussels, shrimp, other seafood items, corn on the cob, and potatoes. The dump the bowls out on the tables and give everyone their own wooden chopping board and wooden pallet. It was quite an experience to watch.... Here are a few pictures:

Aunt Kathy

On Sunday, we left Richland and drove to Vancouver, Washington to spend time with my Aunt Kathy and her family. While we were there, Kaitlynn was able to visit the VA Hospital and witness a couple of ongoing surgeries. She is still trying to figure out what field of medicine she wants to go into after graduation. Here is a picture of me and Aunt Kathy. Hursh Family Reunion

For this year's vacation, we took the scenic route for our 20th High School Reunion, stopping and visiting my family along the way.

We left Friday, July 17th and drove to Boise, Idaho. Pretty uneventful. The next morning, we left and drove to Richland, Washington to see my brother Brad and his family. I have a new sister-in-law and nephew whom I had yet to meet. Here are some pictures of my family:

Science Fair

Kaitlynn decided to participate in this years Science Fair and she did a project called the "The Improvement of Wastewater Treatment on Ecoli". This took up much of her March and April. She took a tour of the Davis County Sewer System and worked closely with the Sewage Plant. They were also very interested in her results. She was selected from the Davis School District and went up to the District Level. She was one of few 10th graders. She was awarded Excellence for a Water-Related Science Research Project. She took home 3rd place in the Senior Division. Most of the students who won were Seniors, so hopefully she will continue with her research and see how it goes next year.

2009 Annual Crew Trip

Bill's crew started doing an annual trip last year, where the guys go somewhere for some male bonding. Last year they went on a quick trip and they did River Rafting.... This year they went to the Moab Desert and did a 110 mile bike ride, well most of the guys did, some did a 110 truck drive:) Bill took a lot of pictures and it sounds like they had a good ol time being boys. They left Sunday afternoon and came back Thursday evening.... Sure was nice not sharing the bed and listening to the snoring.... Just kidding honey.

Family Vacation!!!

Wow, I am always running behind.... We took our 1st family vacation to Disney Land and California Adventure Park. We left on Thursday and came back on Monday. We had a good time and we're grateful to be home.

The girls had a blast!!! It was their 1st time flying and both girls did wonderful. Kaitlynn is an old pro and she sat in the back away from us all.... those teenager years.

We stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel and it was a nice hotel, but we had quite the culture shock on our first breakfast. It was a character breakfast and it was a choice of menu or the buffett. We'll we were all pretty hungry, so we opted for the buffet. The girl's buffet was $13.99 and the adult buffett was $25.99. We walked out of their stunned with a bill of $116.00 of BREAKFAST.

We took the girls to the Black Island Pumpkin Patch and Petting Zoo.... We were able to pet almost all the animals, Kaylee slid down all the hay slides, we all played in the water duck races, Kaylee, Ashlee, and I rode the cow and pick tractor ride, then we went through the corn maze (not a smart idea with a wheel chair), then we rode the tractor wagon and we eached picked out our own pumpkins to carve later...... We'll it was time for the girls big surprise party!!! They thought
they were going to a movie. I didn't get to see their surprise, but
I sure got a hug when they came in. Kaitlynn and I had gone
ahead to make sure things were set up and to order the pizza.

Donna has created another Murder Mystery Party for us. I went as a nurse and Bill went as Jason. It was an odd mixture of creatures. We get together a couple times a year. Something to do that is fun and we always get dressed up in Character. We typically trade turns, so next up is Bill and I and we are planning a 70's themed party after the new year.....

Kaylee's 8th Birthday - October 11, 2008

Kaylee turned 8 years old this past October 11th. We had a small family birthday party for her. Bill was able to come home for about an hour to help celebrate her day. We ended up watching Barbie and The Diamond Castle, Horton Hears a Who, and Anastasia. The weather outside was windy and rainy, so we made a big pot of Chili for the day.

The big party is Ocotober 25th and its a Surprise Birthday Party at Chucky Cheese!! Hopefully it will stay a secret. At this time, we will reveal their big "Birthday Surprise".... :)

Oh Boy!! Toby Keith Concert!!!

On September 20th, Bill, Kaitlynn, Kaylee, and I went to a Ford Sponsored Concert, Toby Keith!! We were even given backstage passes from Ford to meet him personally. Lets just say it was a cattle line that moved very quickly once the line started moving. We were given the opportunity to take pictures with Keith, but they were very quick pictures.

We had a good time, but it was cold and windy and it kept threatening to rain. Luckily the rain waited for us.

Williard Peak

Wow!! Who knew that two words fun and scary would go together. Bill and I went up to Mantua in Brigham City and found a new path to go ATV. We climbed up to 9300 feet high and it was a gorgeous view on the way up and once we got to the top. It took us about an hour. We had to stop and view the scenery. We could see Pine View Resovoire on one side and then the Great Salt Lake on another side and from the side view we could see the Mantua Resavoir. I'm having a brain fart and ca't remember how to spell resovoir? It just doesn't look right. I'm not sure if this has spell check or not.

On the way down it took 45 minutes and kinda scared myself silly going downhill and round those corners. It kinda felt like a luger in the Olympics where they go down the hills really fast and high on the corners. I just kept hoping I would flip myself. But, I had a really good time and enjoyed it. The weather was great!!! Here are some awesome pictures of our trip.

Lava 2008 - July 30 - August 3rd

Lava is our annual camping trip and we did several things different this year.

1st, we went up on a Tuesday rather than a Thursday, 2nd, we were able to do some different activities. Wednesday night we went and play Bingo! Yes, even Bill played and he has a very competitive streak with the older folks who kept winning. Thursday night we took a horse drawn carriage ride to a site for a Dutch Oven dinner and singing and then came back. The ride was about 1/2 hour each way. The early ride was so stinking hot, it was miserable. Once we got to the site, it was cool and beautiful sitting beside the running creek. Dinner was great, but not quite agreeing with me. So, on the whole way back, I was desperately trying not to fart but was having quite some difficulties holding them in. Needless to say, it was a painful and embarrassing ride back home. I was so grateful to be back where I could fart to my hearts content.

Wow!! 15 Years old!! Who told her she could grow up so quickly?

We had a small family party with Aunt Kathy, Jennifer, and Marti who flew down from Oregon and Washington, plus Kaitlynn had her best friend Brittany, and boyfriend, Randy over to help celebrate. We prepared Pancit and Lumpia, which is our favorite Filipino Food. Not the way Mom makes it, but edible enough we don't complain. Sweet and Sour Sauce really helps the taste:)....

Wow!! I am trying to finally catch up to the year of 2008 when everything is now on a Blog!
This works well for me as my family is so spread out... Lets see if I can do this.

This past year has been a year of new adventures.

In September 2007, Bill and I bought our 1st house together. Actually just down the road from where we were leasing a home to purchase.

I spent November - February looking for a new job... Ugh!! Not fun at all... Had a few very close job offers between myself and one other that left me on pins and needles for a bit, but I feel very blessed that things work out the way they are supposed to and was offered a job about 5 minutes from our house versus commuting an hour one way. I saw a fluke job posting on Monster.com and answered the add during the weekend, received a call on Tuesday, went in for an interview on Thursday, was called by their CPA on Friday and was offered a job the following Monday. WOW!!

I started working for Ed Kenley Ford on Feb. 18th in the capacity of their Office Manager in charge of the accounting departing. Its been quite an eye opening experience and I absolutely love it!!! Its now been 6 months and I'm still loving it....

Kaitlynn turned 15 this past April and to celebrate, Aunt Kathy, Cousin Jennifer, and their friend Marty flew down from Vancouver, Oregon for a quick weekend birthday celebration!! We were able to squeeze in a day to to Park City to visit the Olympic Park, went shopping in Salt Lake City at the Gateway and spent a day just at the house visiting. We had a family birthday with pancit and lumpia per Kaitlynn's request and had a couple of freinds come over.... God, how quickly they grow up and how the gray hair is getting longer on my temples.

We have 3 dogs: Pee Wee, Daisy, and Milo. On May 9th, our dog, Daisy, had 7 puppies. 1 didn't make it but the other 6 were beautiful puppies. It was so hard to sell them all and not keep them. She had 3 females and 3 males. 4 of them were all reddish brown with varying degree of shaded colors and then she had 1 Male that was Grey, Black, and Brown and the other was Brown with Brown spots.

May 27th, Kaitlynn got her braces off.... Took only 18 months and now she has a gourgeous and white smile!! Just in time for her 9th grade school dance. She went with her best friends Randy, Bridgette, and Kayla.

June 13th, we took a quick family camping trip to the Unita Mountains to join Bill's co-fire fighters and their family for our 1st annual camping trip. We all had a good time, made some new friends, and had some good laughs, made smores, and told stories by the camp fire. While we were there, our campout was near the entrance for some ATV trails and we must have been at the loading point. I told Bill next year we needed to bring those type of toys.... :)

Kaitlynn then flew to Louisville June 20th to spend the next 6 weeks with her Dad, Step-Mom and new Brother, Zack, who just turned 1 years old. He is such a cutie!!!

June 25th was our 4th wedding anniversary and so Bill surprised me with 2 ATV's.

In July, Bill and I, and our 3 dogs, went to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho for our annual week long camping trip with our friends. This is an annual event with the same group of friends. We did some new things we haven't done before like we went to Bingo night and found out Bill is very competitive, we went on a Chuck Wagon trip and dutch oven dinner, and then of course floated the river, visited with friends, and broke my small toe. Ouch!! I'm so graceful....

Wedding - June 25, 2004

The day our lives and children merged together, June 25th, 2004, for the rest of our lives.

We drove to Las Vegas from Salt Lake City and it took us about 5 1/2 hours. Then we decided to change our hotel and stayed at the Excalibur Hotel. Nice Hotel but at the very end of the strip. I had a lot of wedding things to accomplish with my Mom, so Bill and his brother did a lot of walking and browsing. My Dad and brothers flew down from Washington and Bill's Brother flew down from Florida, as well as My Aunt Kathy and cousin Jennifer who also flew down from Washington.

My Aunt Kathy took me to a show at the Aladin for my bachelorette party. Very simple. Dad took us all out for dinner at the Excalibur Buffet....

Our Wedding was at 9pm and it had been 113 degree's that day.... The setting for the wedding was very romantic and simple. The wedding was held in an outside gazebo.
